When we think about climbing sacs there is only one that set the standards - it was possibly the first purpose built climbing sac in the world, and even with more evolutions than Dr. Who, it only got better with age; That is until Sylvester McCoy came along.
For years i have been a gear freak, spending too much time reading old catalogues, examining the products up close both in the shops and on the hill and i have always wanted to know more about where they came from, and why they were made. In Britain we have designed some great products, the Karrimor Alpiniste climbing pack and the Berghaus Trango Extrem Jacket are possibly two of the most iconic products the world has seen. They didn't raise the bar, they reinvented the benchmark! All these products came from a need, and as time progessed so did technology - i aim to idenify some of these fantastic products and tell their story. I hope to use words from the innovators, images from anywhere and comments from us, the users. It is very much a 'work in progress', and hopefully will be a true and accurate account from history.
